Six short Equity in Action modules for managers

There are six free modules, one for each element of the Equity in Action Model, and each takes a few minutes to read and one week to practice.

Last updated: November 2026 · Published by CRW Diversity

Which Equity in Action module should I start with?

Start with Awareness, because every other element depends on seeing your own decisions clearly. Equity in Action Practice orders the modules so the first two help you see what is happening, the middle two help you change it, and the last two help you sustain it.

What is inside each module?

A direct answer

Each module opens with the question a manager would actually ask, answered in plain language in the first sentence.

Four decision moments

Real situations where the element shows up: staffing a project, a talent review, a team meeting, a promotion discussion.

A five-step practice

A numbered procedure you can complete with your own team, using your own recent decisions as the material.

One exercise for this week

Reflection questions plus one small, specific change to try before your next one-to-one or team meeting.

The modules are a free introduction. For structured learning, CRW Diversity offers Equity in Action for Managers, and for organization-wide work, leadership workshops and executive advisory. Compare every format on the equity training for managers page, or return to the Equity in Action overview.

Where should a manager start with Equity in Action?
Start with Awareness, the first element, because the other five depend on seeing your own decisions clearly. Then move to Access, which gives you a concrete grid to complete for your team. After that, the modules can be taken in order or chosen based on the decision you most want to improve.
Do the six elements have to be done in order?
No, but the order is intentional. Awareness and Access help you see what is happening, Advocacy and Action help you change it, and Accountability and Empowerment help you sustain it. Many managers start at the beginning, then return to whichever element relates to a decision they are facing that week.
How long does each module take?
Each free module on this site is designed to be read in a few minutes and applied the same week. Every module includes a short explanation, four decision moments, a five-step practice, reflection questions, and one exercise to try this week. Reading time depends on how much time you spend on the reflection questions.
Are the modules on this site free?
Yes. All six practice modules on this site are free and readable without an account. They are an introduction to applying each element of the Equity in Action Model. For deeper, structured learning, CRW Diversity offers Equity in Action for Managers, a short, practical learning experience designed for busy leaders.
Can a whole leadership team use the modules together?
Yes. A leadership team can read one module per meeting and compare answers to the reflection questions. This often reveals patterns no single manager sees. For a facilitated program, CRW Diversity offers leadership and organizational development workshops that put fair and inclusive leadership practices into action.
What is Equity in Action for Managers?

It is described as short, practical, and designed for busy leaders. Details are on crwdiversity.com.
